A cool wind blew into the sails of the HMS Helvetica, lifting the ship higher and higher into the stratosphere, while the soft whirring of the propellers lulled the crew into a deep relaxation. They were enjoying an evening flight, the darkness of which offered stargazing like nothing seen from the Earth's surface.
As the dirigible climbed, the warm scents of earth and all its flora gave way to the cooler scents found in the upper atmosphere. "A little brisk out here, tonight, isn't it?" the Captain commented, as he pulled his astrolabe from a velvet pouch inside his coat. He pointed it to a distant star, just a few degrees north of the horizon.
"Crew," he started, "I'm feeling adventurous. Wouldn't tonight be a lovely evening to embark on a new adventure?" The Captain glanced toward the Soap Alchemist. "You've been wanting some new ingredients, haven't you?" he asked playfully.
The Soap Alchemist smiled. "Always," she responded. Being inspired by their current situation, she added, "It would be wonderful to discover a scent reminiscent of the warmth of the Earth, but with the sparkling chill of the stratosphere. Then we could share this experience, if only through scent, with those unable to travel where we do."
