Coconut oil is a staple in an artisan natural soap crafter's pantry. It is one of very few oils that can create really hard, lasting, all natural bar soap. Coconut Oil is often referred to as a "lathering oil" due to it's high percentage of bubble-creating lauric acid. Interestingly, coconut oil will not produce coconut scented natural bar soap. Even virgin coconut oil, which has the warm, sweet scent (and taste!) of fresh coconut, loses its scent during the soap making process creates unscented bars of natural soap. Currently, there is no natural essential oil that will contribute a coconut scent to handcrafted, cold processed soap. If you happen to find a coconut scented natural soap, you can be assured that the scent is most definitely not "all" natural. Still, coconut oil is unrivaled in it's ability to create luxuriously lathery and bubbly hard bars of natural soap, which is why we use it in our bars of lusciously lathering goodness.
